Omega-3 enriched biotech soybeans being developed

A pair of local companies are developing omega-3 enriched soybeans that they hope will have consumers not just accepting, but demanding, biotech food.

Monsanto Co. and Solae Co. said Wednesday that they are teaming up to produce the first genetically modified food product with a benefit for consumers, rather than farmers. So far, all GM crops are designed to survive pests or herbicides.

The omega-3 enriched products, ranging from cooking oils and baked goods to mayonnaise and processed meats, could be on store shelves early next decade.

Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to improve heart health and decrease the risk of death from irregular heartbeats. Americans consume just one-fifth of the amount of certain omega-3 acids recommended by the American Heart Association.

Aussie stuck in narrow range vs USD, awaits data

SYDNEY, March 9 (Reuters) - The Australian dollar remained within a narrow range against the U.S. currency on Friday, as investors cautiously awaited a key U.S. jobs report for further clues on the strength of the world's biggest economy. The local currency had reached as high as $0.7790 in offshore trade on buoyant global stock markets and base metal prices, as well as buying on the cross rate against the Japanese currency, before easing as some investors booked profits.

Without any domestic economic reports until next week, investors will focus on U.S. non-farm payrolls data later on Friday. A Reuters poll showed market forecasts centred on 100,000 new jobs created in February, down from 111,000 in January.

"With stock markets finding a more solid footing and hikes in New Zealand and Europe, the switch in attention to U.S.

The pair attempted to rob $82 worth of pork chops and crab legs from the Giant Foods in West York Borough Friday night.

Police found the stash hidden underneath their 2-year-old. Both people now face multiple charges.

If a fixture is not built-in, it belongs to the seller

Question: The seller and/or his real estate agent removed all three sets of washers and dryers before I got the keys to a house I recently bought. I think the washers and dryers are fixtures, not to be removed by the seller or the agent. What can I do?

Answer: Any movable appliance that is not permanently attached to the structure or built-in is not a fixture and remains personal property.

Unless the sales contract clearly said the washers and dryers were to remain in the house, the seller was entitled to remove that personal property along with the furniture.

The law of fixtures can sometimes be difficult to apply — although not in your situation. For example, some large refrigerators have panel doors that match the kitchen cabinets.
